Skyline Run Coaching: May Highlights From Calgary and Beyond

Why May Matters for Canadian Runners

May is a special month for runners. It marks the start of warmer weather, longer days, and the official kickoff to race season across Canada. For Skyline Run Coaching, May wasn’t just busy, it was a reminder of what’s possible when runners commit to the training process and show up consistently.

Across race weekends in Calgary, Vancouver, and other Canadian cities, our athletes brought their months of hard work to the start line. Some chased personal bests. Others tackled their first marathons. And many used their races to assess progress on the road to even bigger goals. No matter the distance or pace, what united them was grit, heart, and trust in their training.

As Calgary-based run coaches who work with athletes across Canada, we saw more than just finish times coming off of the cold, harsh winter. We saw early morning long runs, threshold workouts in the snow, and runners navigating life’s curveballs while staying committed. Some races went better than expected. Others didn’t go to plan. But every result told the story of a runner who showed up with courage.

More Than Just Finish Times: Celebrating the Process

We celebrated huge milestones! From first marathons, breakthrough performances, and yes, some shiny new personal bests too. But we also saw quiet victories: runners finishing strong after injury, sticking to smart pacing strategies, or racing with joy instead of pressure.

We believe in process over perfection. Race day is a snapshot. Training is the story. And this May, our community of runners wrote a chapter full of resilience, learning, and growth.

Thank You to Our Calgary and Canadian Running Community

To every Skyline athlete who trained through unpredictable spring weather, juggled life and training, and gave it their all - thank you. You represent what great coaching and committed running can do.
